While Goku and Chi-Chi are the first major characters in Dragon Ball to get married, their marriage has been shown to be a rather "odd" one. Goku and Chi-Chi have never really had the most normal marriage, and was still rather naive in the ways of love, he clearly cared for Chi-Chi. She has a loving family and the man she fell for as a child. She thought he would be as eager as she was to settle down.
